Descendants of James BROWN and Mary Goodwin Sergeant MOSS.

James was the son of Andrew BROWN, who arrived in Port Adelaide, South Australia aboard the "Marion" on 10 December 1854, and his wife Jean (shown as Ann on the shipping list). Jean's death notice, in the Adelaide "Advertiser", of 29 Nov 1904, is as follows:

BROWN - on the 19th November, Jean Brown, aged 89 years and 9 months, relict of the late Andrew Brown, and mother of Mrs. Hay, "The Glen", and James Brown, Swan Reach. Arrived in ship Marion, 1854.

Andrew and Jean were from Lanark, Scotland, and arrived with three children - Ann (aged 14), Andrew (aged 11) and Isabella (aged 2). James was born in the following year.

      b. Oct 1885, Woodside, South Australia;
      d. 26 Jul 1973, Adelaide, South Australia.
      Auntie Jessie never married; her fiance, Wilhelm Otto Carl SCHMIDT, d. 27 Jan 1920, aged 30, is buried at "Silverlea" with her father.
      A Note: Theodor Otto Schmidt, son of Franz and Auguste (nee Graefe), d. 5 Jan 1922, aged 29, is buried at Swan Reach. I believe Theodor was not related to Wilhelm, as family lore says that Wilhelm died leaving no living relatives. However, I have been unable to find anything further about the Schmidt family.
