THE MOSS FAMILY
of South Australia

Descendants of John MOSS and Mary AKES, who arrived in Port Adelaide, South Australia aboard the "John Woodall" on Wednesday, 17 Jan 1849.

The vessel departed Liverpool on 15 Sep 1848, and was under the command of Captain Hill. The "John Woodall" was a barque, of 380 tons, and carried 183 passengers, some of whom subsequently sailed for Victoria aboard the "Halcyon".

The passenger list, which is taken from the SA Register, shows only John Moss and two of his sons (John and Matthew). This list does show that SAMM includes Mary, Ellen, Peter and Thomas, but shows only one John.
